A bit of bushwhacking our way up a steep, unmaintained trail off the Taylor River trail got us to quiet Marten Lake.
Wiat for me! The first few miles of the trail were on an old logging road that'd been converted to trail. Not the most exciting hiking in the world.
Entering the shrubbery zone. As we finished the steepest part of the ascent we entered an avalanche zone of slide alder which all but obscured the trail.
We ready for this?
Boom! Already at the lake!
Lunch on the rocks, one of the few places to sit along the lake. Swimming was planned, but the cool weather said "No swimming today!". We heard, but weren't…
Zoe doing her best to fall into the lake by scrambling down the slippery, moss-covered rocks.
Gavin tries to help Zoe while Martin does nothing useful.
Getting back down was a bit more challenging than going up.
The view up the Taylor River valley.
Treen Peak catching some sun.
There could be a bear or two in here and we'd have no idea.
