George Lake Backpacking

Ready to start the hike...I think Zilly is joining us. Made up the first steep climb in the trees! Much swearing and complaining about Daddy's scouting of the trip to get to this first water break stop. Hiking along the ridgeline. img 3309 Looking up towards the next hill, after which we'll head down to George Lake.
Our first view of Mt. Rainier from the top of the ridgeline the trail followed. Up, up, up in the sun. Hot! Gavin and Martni check out the view of Mt. Rainier. Zoe decides the middle of the trail is a good spot to take a rest. img 3316
Time for a little rest in the shade. img 3320 Approaching the hike's high point. img 3323 There's George Lake!
img 3325 Zoe suddenly re-energized once the lake was in sight and the trail went downhill to it. A little post-swim sun... Zoe testing out our latest camping gadget, a hammock that packs down into a small sack. The opinion "Many thumbs up!". img 3337
Twenty-nine Mile Lake which we didn't bother hiking down to. img 3339 img 3340 img 3341 img 3342
